Aging is an inevitable part of life, but that doesn’t always mean we have to live with the effects of it. Anti-aging procedures have long been helping patients look and feel their best for decades. Brow and forehead lifts are among the most popular and effective ways to restore your face to its glowing youthfulness.
What is a Brow/Forehead Lift?
A brow or forehead lift is a surgical procedure that allows your surgeon to get rid of heavy brows and forehead wrinkles and frown lines. There are various ways to complete a brow/forehead lift. The main differences between these methods are the placement of the incision.
The Procedure
There are multiple approaches the doctor can take during a forehead or brow lift procedure. During endoscopic surgery, several small incisions are made just behind the hairline. A scope is used to assist in the surgery. Other techniques require longer incisions to lift the brow. The doctor determines the location of the incision after your initial consultation. While all techniques produce the same effects, some techniques can move the hairline, which not every patient is ok with.
The doctor will be able to determine which procedure is best for you and your needs. This procedure can take anywhere from one to three hours to complete and can be performed under IV or general sedation, depending on the surgical technique.
The Recovery
Recovery from a brow or forehead lift depends on the method used. Endoscopic surgery typically means less recovery time, while other methods can take longer.
You will experience swelling and bruising for around 10 days after your surgery. For some patients, bruising and swelling can move to the cheeks and eye area. The doctor recommends keeping your head elevated after brow lift surgery to reduce swelling as well as use cold compresses. As the incisions heal, you may experience numbness and itching. Your sutures will be removed around a week after surgery.
